FIRST Lego League
Applications for the 2025 FLL Explore Season are now open!
The Westfield High School FIRST robotics team started, supports, and mentors six FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Explore teams for Westfield-Washington Schools Elementary School students in grades 2-4. The teams will be mentored by the high school students on the Westfield High School FIRST robotics team, SHAM-ROCK-BOTICS, along with the professionals that volunteer with the high school robotics team.
Who can join a SHAM-ROCK-BOTICS FLL Explore Team?
Any WWS Elementary school student in grades 2-4 can apply to join a SHAM-ROCK-BOTICS FLL Explore team. Capacity is limited, so unfortunately we may not be able to take all students who apply. Students who participated in the fall 2025 season may apply, but new applicants will be prioritized. Applications for the winter season (Nov 24-Dec 18) are due November 7.
Anyone can start an FLL team! If you'd like to start your own team instead of participating in a SHAM-ROCK-BOTICS FLL Explore team, you can find out more on the FIRST website and reach out to SHAM-ROCK-BOTICS for guidance.
What is FIRST LEGO League Explore?
It's never too early to discover STEM. FIRST LEGO League Explore is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids ages 6 to 10 while exciting them through a brand they know and love - LEGO®. This program inspires young people to experiment and grow their confidence, critical thinking, and design skills through hands-on learning. Find out more on the FIRST website!
When will the SHAM-ROCK-BOTICS FLL Explore Teams meet?
FLL Explore will meet for six meetings and an end-of-season festival. All meetings and the festival take place at Westfield High School from 6pm to 7:30pm.

What does it cost to join the FLL Explore Teams?
There is a $50 fee to participate. Details for payment will be provided once applications are complete.
